Evaluation of the Effect of an In-Service Training Program on Assessment for Learning for English Language Teachers

The aim of this paper is to present the effect an In-Service Training (INSET) Program designed develop Assessment for Learning (AfL) practices on English language teachers. For purpose, teachers working in state high schools attended five-session-long INSET program 2020-2021 Spring semester. Whether there were any changes between teachers’ responses tasks assigned before and after sessions what their opinions related training examined. Data collection tools included a task prepared each session questionnaire including four-point Likert type questions open-ended items. Descriptive statistics used analysis quantitative data while deductive coding was employed analyze qualitative data. results demonstrated that most thought AfL ‘quite important’. findings also yielded first three items about detected identified as ‘providing more opportunities express opinions’, ‘clarifying learning intentions detailed way’, ‘using clear comments’. outcomes shed light participant ideas differentiations second same tasks, reported variations pre- post-task ‘partially changed’ or ‘changed lot’. techniques mentioned during rated ‘practical’ ‘partial practical’ by great number suggested should be given chances taking part in-service programs, especially AfL; way, it can provided they use new strategies classes efficiently.
